BTF invites British Tamils for midnight vigil and a "Walk for Justice"
[ Wednesday, 21 July 2010, 03:20.58 AM GMT +05:30 ]
British Tamils are holding a midnight vigil and a "Walk for Justice" to the UN commencing from London calling for:  An International Independent Investigation into War Crimes in Sri Lanka,  Access to Prisoners of War and  Boycott Sri Lanka until it respects human rights. A BTF flyer is as below.
Event Details: Midnight Vigil & "Walk for Justice" to the UN
Date: Friday, 23 July 2010
Start: 9pm at Tothill Street (behind Westminster Methodist Church)
End: 11:30pm at Downing Street
In 2009 Sri Lanka’s final offensive resulted in up to 40,000 Tamils being killed and over 300,000 Tamils left incarcerated in barbed-wire camps. Today IDPs are left to fend for themselves, crimes against humanity with impunity continues, state sponsored colonization of Tamil areas is widespread, media is censored, voice of dissent are silenced, Sri Lanka remains closed to international monitors and there is no justice for the lives lost and no voice for those who have survived...the injustice continues…

“The demonstrations against the UN’s Colombo compound are a threatening new turn in the Sri Lankan government’s campaign against the UN Panel of Experts,” – HRW, 11 July 2010

“Blocking access to the United Nations - of which Sri Lanka itself is a member - as well as intimidating and harassing UN personnel is a breach of international norms and harmful to Sri Lanka's reputation in the world” – Statement by Heads of Mission of Germany, UK, US, France, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Romania, Norway and the EU Delegation, 9 July 2010. We hope that you will be able to attend this forthcoming event and provide the coverage it warrants. Your presence will do a great deal to support growing calls for an independent international investigation into war crimes in Sri Lanka. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information regarding the event or other related matters. Please visit our website at www.tamilsforum.com for further information.
Thank you for your time.

Yours faithfully,
